General
Admission Rules:
1. Admission in different classes shall be
made as per the number of seats allocated.
2. Admission shall be made strictly on the basis of merit.
3. Any admission is valid only for a particular class and a particular session. Fresh
admission will be required for next higher class.
4. For admission to 1st year of graduate classes the students will have to give three
preferences for group of subjects. As per the rules they will be entitled for admission to
one group only.
5. Adjustment of fees deposited for a particular group of subjects may be made as per the
provisions of Ordinance No.7.
6. The merit of candidates seeking change in their faculty/subject at graduate and
postgraduate level shall be computed after deducting 5% from the marks secured in
qualifying examination. Weightage shall be given on reduced marks.
7. For candidates having passed after revaluation, admission may be given provided:
(i). Revaluation result has been declared within 60 days of main exam. result;
(ii). If the seats are vacant;
(iii). They will fulfil the norms for desired attendance; and
(iv). Their cases will be considered on the basis of their Merit. In the event of delay in
the declaration of main exams. result by the University, last date for the admission in
the next higher class will be till 15 days after the declaration of the result.
8. Regular admission will not be given to any candidate who having been admitted once
discontinues his studies. Candidates who fail in any class will not be given regular
admission in the same class.
9. Candidates with gap of one or more years between passing qualifying examination and
seeking admission to higher class will be considered for admission provided they submit an
affidavifand the original Transfer Certificate. Their admissions will be as per the
general merit list.
10. In teaching departments admission to' graduate classes will be made by the respective
Deans of the Faculties while the respective Heads of the Department will make admission in
Postgraduate Classes and Diploma Courses. If any admissions are to be cancelled such an
order will be issued by the respective Deans / Heads of the departments.
11. No action will be taken by the University office under any circumstances for any
admission without the approval of Deans / Heads of the Department.
12. The following categories .of candidates will not be eligible for admission:
(i) who have been punished by the court of Law for serious crimih3;1 or immoral offence or
malpractice in the conduct of some previous examination,
(ii) against whom any legal proceeding is pending in the court of Law,
(iii) those who have caused disturbance or used muscle power in the examination hall.
(iv) even after having been admitted if any candidate is found to be involved in such
cases registered with the police or produced in the court of Law their admission will
stand suspended,
(v) this procedure shall also be followed in cases of candidates either punished by
Proctorial Board or cases pending before Proctorial Board.
13. Students who have been debarred from appearing in exams. for a particular period being
found guilty of using unfair means in exams or against whom proceedings are still pending
will not be eligible for admission till that period is over.
14. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
14.1 (a) Bonafide Residents of Madhya Pradesh.
(b) Wards of Central/State Govt. employees posted in
Madhya Pradesh.
(c) Wards of employees of Nationalized
Banks &
Professional organization run by Govt. of India.
14.2 Admissions shall be given on the basis of total marks obtained in the qualifying
exam. However those securing less than 50% marks (for graduate classes)/ 55% marks (for
postgraduate course) will not be eligible for admission. In case the seats are vacant
those applicants securing 45% marks (for graduate courses)! 50% marks (for postgraduate
courses) will also be considered eligible for admission. For admission of students from
CBSE course (10+2) to graduate course, marks obtained in one language and three subjects
(in which the candidate wishes to take admission) will be considered for calculating the
merit. For example -a student coming from Mathematics stream and securing admission in
B.Sc. 1st year only marks obtained in the Maths Group subjects plus marks obtained in one
of the languages (in which he secured highest marks) will be considered for arriving at
the grand total. Thus merit will be decided only on the basis of marks obtained in one
compulsory language and three, optional subjects.
14.3 Condition of having obtained the minimum percentage of marks for admissions is
applicable only at 1st year of Graduate and Postgraduate courses. This will not be binding
for regular students of the University seeking admission to Iind or III rd years of
Graduate or [mal year of Postgraduate
course.
14.4 Only those students will be eligible for admission to science Group who have passed
the qualifying examination with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) and Technical Group.
Admission
in Life Science Faculty will be restricted to those having passed the qualifying
examination with Biology Group (Botany, Zoology). .Those coming from Technical stream will
not be eligible for admission to B.Com. 1st year but they will be entitled for admission
to B.A. 1st year as per rules.
15. After submitting the application form it will be the responsibility of the student to
collect the Demand Form from the respective office, deposit the required fees in time and
obtain the admission card. No admission will be made after the prescribed last date.
16.1 Students coming from other Institutions will not be admitted without the original
Transfer Certificate and Migration Certificate.
16.2 In regard of wards of Central! State Govt. Employees Para 14.1 (b and c) coming on
transfer admission will be given after the expiry of last day of admission provided there
remains any vacancy provided that the candidate will have to submit the joining
certificate of his/her father/mother and that the ward had taken admission in some. other
college/University before the
last date of admission of this University.
17. WEIGHTAGE
17.1 Weightage will be given only for arriving at the Merit List. This will not be
considered for computing eligibility. It will depend on the percentage of marks obtained
in the qualifying examination. For claiming the weightage the candidate will have to
attach all the Certificates with the application form. Certificates produced afterwards
will not be considered. In case where the
student is entitled for more than one weightage only the highest will be considered.
Certificates
claiming weightage will be valid only for the current session/two years from the date of
issue. Weightage will be given as follows:

17.7 Best N.C.C. cadets on National Level and the students participating in
National/International Level sports/ Cultural competition organised by Olympic / Asiad /
sports Authority of India will be admitted without the consideration of merit list in
classes for which they are eligible provided;
(a) His certificate with respect to the above has been attested. by the Director, Sports
& Youth Welfare Deptt. M.P.
(b) This facility will be available to those candidates only who have applied in time. For
availing this facility for a second time they will have to achieve this distinction again.
18. AGE LIMIT
18.1 Age limit for students of General category.
For subjects having provision for appearing as a private student, age limit for Graduate
course will be 11 years while it will be ~ years for postgraduate course.
18.2 For all women and students from SC/ST category maximum age limit for Graduate &
Postgraduate classes will be 25 & 28 years, respectively.
18.3 Age will be calculated as on 1st July in a particular academic session.
19. RESERVATION
19.1 Reservation will be as per the reservation policy of Madhya Pradesh Government.
19.2 15% & 18% seats will be reserved, respectively for students of SC & ST
category. Reserved seats for these two categories will be inter-changeable. except in the
Faculty of Law a weightage of 10% will be given.
19.3 14% seats will be reserved for students from backward classes provided that they do
not belong to the creamy layer. For availing this, the applicants will have to produce the
Income Certificate by the Govt. along with their application forms. The minimum qualifying
percentage for their admission will be as under rule 14.2.
19.4 3% of seats will be reserved jointly for Wards
(Sons-daughters/Grandsons-Grand-daughters) of Freedom Fighters and students of Physically
Handicapped category. Students of Physically Handicapped category will also be given a
weightage of 10% of total marks and then a common merit list will be prepared for these
two categories.
19.5 30% of available seats, in all categories will be reserved for women candidates.
19.6 2% seats will be reserved for the wards of University employees in B.A/B.
Sc/B.Com/B.Pharm/ MBA/BBA/Applied Microbiology & Biotechnology/M.Tech/B.Ed/M.Ed/LLB
COURSES.
19.7 If the number of reserved seats. under any category works out to be less than 1/2, no
seat will be reserved. However if it falls between 1/2 & I, only one seat will be
reserved.
19.8 In case enough candidates under reserved category do not apply till the last date for
admission, the remaining seats will be open to students of General Category.
Note: Wards of the Freedom Fighters & Physically handicapped students will be entitled
for reservation according to the fixed quota according to horizontal reservation policy
i.e. such candidates from SC/ST/OBC/GENERAL will be considered in their respective
category of reservation only.
20. PROVISIONAL ADMISSION
20.1 Those students who have got supplementary in their qualifying 10+2 examinations will
not be admitted. Similarly those students from graduate course who have got supplementary
in their qualifying exam. will not be admitted to postgraduate courses. However students
having got supplementary in one subject at Ist/2nd years graduate level may be
provisionally admitted in the next higher class provided there is vacancy. In case such
students are declared fail in their supplementary exam. their provisional admission in
higher class will be automatically cancelled.
20.2 At Graduate course level in 2nd & 3rd years if vacancies still exist after
admitting the regular students, the vacant seats could be filled by former regular
students private students/those passing through distance education. Even after this if
seats remain vacant Ex-students private students those appearing through distance
education, having supplementary, will also be considered.
21. At graduate level Admission Committee of respective Faculties will consider the
applications for admission. Admission Committee will be constituted by the Vice-Chancellor
on the
recommendation of the Deans of the respective Faculties.
22. Only those candidates will be given admission in 1st year graduate classes who have
passed those qualifying examinations which the M.P. Board of Secondary Education considers
equivalent to their Higher Secondary School Certificate Exam. (10+2).
23. Private students will be permitted to attend practical classes as Casual students
provided seats are available. In every subject, the permitted casual admissions will be up
to 10% of maximum number of regular students. The respective Head of the Department/Dean
of Faculty will grant this permission. Private students will have to pay the laboratory
fee of Rs.5001- and Caution Money of Rs.5001-. Such students will not be entitled for
admission in the University Hostel. Such admissions will be given up to 30th September
2001.
OTHER RULES
24. Students from outside Madhya Pradesh who have passed 1st & 2nd years
0"Graduate course from other Universities and desire admission into 2nd on 3rd years
respectively, can be admitted only after the permission of the Vice-Chancellor. .
25. Attendance will be computed from the date on which classes begin.
26. A regular student will be eligible for appearing in University examination provided he
has 75% attendance.
27. DIPLOMA COURSES
27.1 Only those candidates will be admitted for Diploma Course who have taken admission in
this University in some other course as regular students. In an academic session admission
will be given in only one Diploma Course.
27.2 Admission to part time diploma course should be taken within 15 days of admission to
a regular course. No admission will be made in these courses after 31st December.
SPECIAL RULES FOR ADMISSION TO: M.A./ M.Sc./ M.Com.
28.1 Admission to Post Graduate previous year will be on the basis of merit.
28.2 For admission to M.Sc. and M.A. classes merit list will be calculated on the basis of
the formula,
Total marks obtained + Marks obtained in the subject concerned

NOTE
a) For admission to M.Sc in Anthropology (Previous) the qualifying subject means
marks obtained in Anthropology or Zoology.
b) For M.Sc(Previous) Applied Microbiology eligibility for admission will be for those
students only who have passed B.Sc Final with Microbiology/Botany, Zoology & Chemistry
groups.
c) From outside M.P. only those students will be eligible for admission in M.Sc(Prev.)
Chemistry who have studied Mathematics or Chemistry at Graduate level.
d.) Only those having passed B.Com will be given admission in M.Com (Prev.).
29. For bringing uniformity with the other Universities of Madhya Pradesh for admission to
postgraduate classes % of total marks obtained will be calculated on the basis of marks
obtained by them in the concerned subject in the respective three years.
30. A student desirous of seeking admission in a subject other than that taken by hit;n in
the qualifying examination shall be considered only when seats are vacant.
31. In postgraduate classes students from outside M.P. will be admitted only upto a limit
of 10% of the seats available, in order of merit.
32. At postgraduate level student will be eligible for admission in one subject only. If
the student wishes to be considered for other subjects in case he is not admitted in his
desired subject, he will have to apply separately for each subject before the last date
for submission of application form. Request for transfer from one subject to another shall
not be entertained if separate application form has not been filled up before the due
date.
33. Admission in the final year of any postgraduate course will be first given to those
students who have been the regular students in the previous class at the University
Teaching Department, other students will be considered for admission only when the seats
remain vacant.
34. Those who have passed postgraduate previous from some other University of Mad4ya
Pradesh and are desirous of taking admission in this University in the final year may be
admitted with the Permission of the Vice-Chancellor.
35. If any candidate has been admitted to 1st year P.G. course and he discontinues his
studies or has failed or passed in P.G. 1st year or has failed in P.G. II year or has
discontinued his studies before examination, in that condition he will be eligible for
admission to other P.G. 1st year course in some other subject depending on his merit. This
facility will be given to a student only once.
However, having obtained a P.G. degree in one subject the candidate will not be admitted
for another postgraduate Course as a regular student.
36. At Postgraduate level Casual Admissions will not be given.
37. In BBA (Hons.) & M.B.A courses, admissions will be given as per the merit list
presented by Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board.

CODE OF CONDUCT
1. Every student is expected to follow the Rules of this University and maintain the
prestige of the University.
2. Deposit his fees regularly.
3. Safe guard the University property from damage.
4. Be present in classes regularly.
5. Participate and be interested in NCC, NSS, Games & Sports & Cultural
Activities.
6. Be not involved in undesirable activities, concentrate all his attention in studies and
keep away from unlawful activities.
7. Keep contact with Employment Exchange, Student Welfare Office, Proctor's Office &
Games Office.
8. Keep his Identity card always and produce it before the concerned officer
whenever required.
9. Make full use of the Library.
10. Behave respectfully with his teachers, administrative officers and other employee~ and
colleagues.
11. Contact the Dean/H.O.D. or the Proctor in case of any problem or difficulty.
